5Of the Most Trusted Organic Skincare Brands

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6191476
I'm a firm believer of organic skincare products. In the long term, taking care of your skin will really pay off big time. For the past 20 years, I've used only organic skincare products. Yes, some of the products can prove to be expensive and some are created to make you spend more. But it's up to you how much you are prepared to spend on your skin. Once upon a time, you would only find the odd organic skincare product tucked away in the back of a little health food shop but now most brands take pride of place in large department stores and the high street with big chains like Tescos cashing in on the organic tag.
Here's 5 of the most trusted organic skincare brands, which have long abided by the principles of no petrochemicals, parabens and nasties.
Dr Hausckha
For over 40 years, Dr.Hauschka has gained a reputation for its authentic commitment to nature. The company's products are made from pure and natural ingredients and it has an unrivalled reputation in the organic skincare industry with high quality products.
Dr Hauschka products were the first products I discovered more than 20 years ago and were a brilliant introduction to organic skincare. And many customers enjoy comfortable, radiant skin.
Check out some of Dr Hauschka's award winning products:
• Cleansing Cream
• Regenerating Serum
• Rose Day Cream
• Bronzing powder
Jurlique
Jurlique has long produced a clean living range of organic skincare products. The Australian organic skin care company, like Dr Hauschka. When I was in Australia, 10 years ago, I was amazed at the amount of fresh, natural products available. And it makes perfect sense, because Australia is so abundant with fresh, organic products of superior quality.
Jurlique's organic skincare does come at a price. The range is priced much more expensively than other brands, but organic skin care users loyal to Jurlique swear by its quality and wouldn't trade for anything else.
Here's a snapshot of some of Jurlique's award winning organic skincare products:
• Herbal Recovery Eye Gel
• Balancing Foaming Cleanser
• Moisture Replenishing Day Cream
• Purely Age-Defying Night Lotion
Jasons
Jason's products are very functional and have a good reputation for being largely organic and natural without parabens and nasties. I discovered Jason more than 10 years ago. The company's shower gels are fantastic value. For £8 you used to be able to get a huge bottle with a pump and it would last for months. I think the company have wised up however, because it's recently repackaged all its organic body care and body moisturisers which again are fantastic value for the price. Jason has a reputation for being a leading personal skincare producer. One good thing about Jasons is that their haircare range works well unlike most other organic hair products.
Some of Jason's organic personal care showstoppers are:
• Satin Shower Body Wash pumps
• Hand and Body Moisturisers
• Daily Hair Care Shampoos and Moisturisers
Ren
I love Ren products. They are one of my favourite brands at the moment. I needed an organic skincare range that addressed the problem of my dry skin. Of course, dry skin can be the cause of a number of factors; hormonal imbalance, diet and nutrition and exercise. But I was inspired by Ren's no-nonsense approach to holistic skincare and the company's range is very superior. The Ren range is mid-price and their products last for a good few months.
Some of Ren's award winning products are:
• Morrocan Rose Otto Body Oil
• No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm
• Max Moisture Concentrate
• Rose O¹² Ultra-Moisture Serum
The Organic Pharmacy
I discovered The Organic Pharmacy years ago when the first UK store was opened at the quieter end of Kings Road in Chelsea. I was immediately drawn into the shop and felt purified by its fresh, clean approach to organic skincare. It's range is packed in glass jars and pots, which the company maintain keeps the product fresh. And you definitely know it's fresh because you're advised to use any product within six months. The range is not cheap by any means but there are absolutely no nasties in the Organic Pharmacy range at all.
Some of the organic skincare best sellers by the Organic Pharmacy are:
• Carrot Butter Cleanser
• Double Rose Rejuvenating Cream
• Antioxidant Face Firming Serum
• Cleopatra's Milk Bath
Again price would be an issue if you're on a budget. But the Organic Pharmacy's products are well worth stretching your budget for.
Organic skincare is a great way to look after your skin and keep yourself young. However, just like any product you buy from the beauty counters, there's such a variety of organic skincare products to choose from. What Type of Skin Do You Have?

Find out the difference between oily, normal, dry skin

By , About.com Guide
 ******************************************************************************
There are five basic skin care types: Oily, combination, sensitive, dry and sun-damaged. Your skin type is determined by how much -- or how little -- oil your skin produces. Genes, diet, stress level, medication and even your skincare regimen all determine how much oil your skin produces.

Rona Berg, in her book,
"Beauty the New Basics," details the five different skin types. Here's how to tell what skin type you have.

Berg suggests you take the "skin test." Wash your face, pat it dry, then take a few pieces of rice paper or lens-cleaning tissue paper and press on different spots on your face. If your skin is oily, the paper will stick, pick up oily spots and become translucent. If the paper doesn't stick or pick up any oily spots, your skin is dry. If it sticks in your t-zone (forehead, nose and chin) then you have combination (or normal) skin. About 70 percent of women have combination skin.

Here are the five different skin types and their characteristics.
  • Type 1: Oily Oily skin tends to shiny with enlarged pores, and is prone to blackheads and blemishes. You might experience some tightness.
  • Type 2: Combination/normal This skin type has medium pores, a smooth and even texture, good circulation, healthy color, may tend toward dryness on the cheeks while being oily in the t-zone.
  • Type 3: Sensitive Sensitive skin tends to be thin, delicate with fine pores. It flushes easily, is prone to broken capillaries, is frequently allergic and can be rashy.
  • Type 4: Dry Dry skin feels tight, especially after cleansing. You have a tendency towards fine wrinkles, flaking and red patches. In women of color, skin may appear ashy or dull from dead skin buildup.
  • Type 5: Aging or sun-damaged This skin also feels tight with visible wrinkles, slack skin tone -- especially around the cheeks and jawline -- with leathery texture and broken capillaries.

Get Your Skin Ready for the Beach!

Skin Prep is very important to help a tan from peeling. Body scrubs are an excellent way to prep the skin and get your yourself ready for that bikini! Dead Sea Body Scrubs contain salt and some beneficial oils to help run into the base of your skin to exfoliate the dead cells and moisturize the winter skin with the oils of the scrub.
For luscious summer tone skin- begin using body scrubs in the Spring and continue through out the summer months. Not only will this keep your skin glowing youthful but it helps the cells to regenerate faster - actually giving you younger newer skin.
There are two types of body scrubs in the market today. The first is a salt scrub, also known as a salt glow. The salt is best used for once a month scrubs - it's a bit more coarse and can be used less often. However, my advice is NOT to use this scrub right after shaving and if you have any cuts or sores. This scrub is the best one to choose if you have really dry skin or need a heavily exfoliation.
The second type is a sugar body scrub. The sugar is softer and can be used twice weekly. A salt scrub is a little bit more coarse so you only want to use it about once a month. Both of these scrubs are going to leave your skin feeling silky smooth.
Another item to look into is the oil being used within the scrub itself- Rice Bran oil is an excellent source and will help with many skin issues as it is moisturizing and feeding the skin. If you suffer from eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis, then this is the oil you need. It is very effective, and probably the most powerful skin care product oil on the market.
Body Creams, and Body Lotions with Rice bran oil are wonderful too and they can also help keep your summer skin bikini ready!
And lastly- don't sun using any creams or lotions containing AHA's. AHA's will cause you to burn. Make certain that you have stopped using all AHA's creams for at least 2 weeks before taking to the beach to ride those waves!
Final tips for summer skin- always use a uv protector cream, look for rice bran oil and exfoliate often using a dead sea body scrub made from either sugar or salt!

Shave 200 Calories a Day with This Swap

To shave 200 calories from each day -- without missing a thing -- put your blender to work.
Then, use pureed vegetables in place of more energy-dense ingredients in your favorite entrees -- soups, casseroles, mac and cheese, and more. In a study, doing so helped people consume 200 fewer calories a day -- but still feel satisfied.
A Simple Swap
In the study, participants ate all of their meals in a lab once a week for 3 weeks. They ate carrot cake for breakfast, mac and cheese for lunch, and chicken-and-rice casserole for dinner, along with side dishes at each meal. But some weeks, the dishes were prepared with extra pureed veggies in place of higher-calorie, more energy-dense ingredients -- to the tune of 200 to 360 fewer calories per day. The participants didn't know about the swap, but they rated the slimmed-down dishes to be just as tasty and satisfying as the higher-calorie meals. (How many calories do you need per day? Use this calorie counter to find out.)
Painless Calorie Cutting
Ready to lower the calorie count of your favorite dishes? Adding pureed vegetables to soups, stews, and casseroles isn't just a trick for getting kids to eat better. It works for adults, too. You can also add more whole vegetables to everyday meals, like sandwiches and salads. Or just make it a point to use more of the space on your plate for vegetable sides instead of calorie-dense meat. Because vegetables are naturally low-calorie and filling, you'll eat fewer calories overall but still feel full. Try these other creative ways to slim down your days

Good Vitamins For Healthy Hair :

Nutrition plays a large role in how quickly your hair will grow as well as how healthy and strong your hair and skin will be. The benefits of good nutrition and good quality vitamins and minerals are almost limitless. By eating a balanced diet with good nutrition, you will strengthen your immunity. Your blood, heart and bones will benefit and be strengthened. The quality of food and vitamins also play a role. Let me elaborate.- Foods closest to their original form, like uncooked baby carrots, raw tomato, whole leaf uncooked spinach, a whole unpeeled apple is better for you than a cooked or processed form.

Organic is healthier than mass-produced vegetables treated with pesticides, etc. Think about it, plants are living things, they absorb what they chemicals they are treated or sprayed with, so washing can only do so much. With that in mind we should eat an organic diet rich in clean, whole foods- such as, raw or steamed vegetables 5 servings daily(broccoli, carrots, sweet potato-plain, asparagus, spinach and squashes); Eat raw fruits 2-3 times a day, low-fat high protein meats 2 a day such as (grilled or baked hormone free chicken, tuna, salmon or 6 oz fillet, egg whites or whey protein) also, twice a week add dry beans and/or lentils plus, sugar-free jello to aid in nail growth. This simple low-calorie nutrient rich diet is a great beginning to healthy living.

Also, when you do cook your food, iron skillet, iron pans and stock pots are a great way to add iron to your diet also avoid Aluminum cookware. There are links to many health problems and a build up of aluminum in your body. You should take vitamins daily. Menstruating women need a balanced Multi-vitamin with iron, not a coated hard to digest vitamin. But buy a good quality gel capsule or non-coated vitamin. A gummy vitamin even, is a better choice than a coated vitamin. Arbonne has excellent vitamins and we are an all natural based company. You should add these to your multi, A calcium with D, Magnesium, A biotin, cinnamon, L-Carnitine and vitamin-C. For women in or post menopause we should take A multi, Biotin (important for hair and hair growth, nails and skin), Vitamin-C, Calcium with vitamin-D and magnesium, Vitamins-A and E, L-Carnitine, DHEA, black cohosh add cinnamon and fish oil.Drink 70 to 80 oz of water, daily in addition drink Teas (black, oolong, green) daily. If you have trouble sleeping add Melatonin. If you have hot flashes add Phyto-Estrogen cream, or ask your Dr. about Hormone testing and balancing. This simple act alone will help you feel great! Adding these simple nutrition tips and vitamins to your routine will help you look and feel wonderful.

Exfoliate skin with scrub or skin brush for cell turn over and increase circulation.

Massage your scalp prior to washing. Place fingers on either side of your head and rotate fingers in small circular movements, covering your entire scalp area. Increased circulation means healthier hair and skin.

Last but not least, exercise 5 days a week for 30 minutes. Try turning on your radio, dance break a sweat and have fun. Go outside and play! Take your dogs outside and run with them, play fetch with them and enjoy playing like a kid. Take a hike, Try yoga, Zumba or belly dancing! This not only boosts metabolism, but increases endorphins and happy mood. As an added bonus it will increase your metabolism generates/speeds hair growth, aids circulation, improves sleep and decreases appetite. These things are easy and affordable to incorporate into your daily life, plus they are fun!

Here's to you, good health and your decision to create an active, healthy and younger lifestyle, you will see the benefits!

USE INTENTION TO GUIDE MEMORY FORMATION DURING SLEEP

Humans take in large amounts of information every day, yet most of it is forgotten. It has long been known sleep is necessary for memory consolidation and that people who sleep more remember better than those who don’t, but up until now it hasn’t been clear what principle guides the brain in sorting out relevant from irrelevant information for the purpose of memory. How the brain preferentially decides what information to keep and what to reject during sleep was the subject of investigation by a research team led by Jan Born, Ph.D., of the University of Lubeck. Their findings were reported in the March 2011 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience.
Dr. Born used 191 volunteers to memorize things like word pairs and animals depicted on cards. Some were allowed to sleep before being tested on their memories. Half the volunteers were told right after the memory tasks that they would be tested in 10 hours and half were not. The participants allowed to sleep did better on memory testing than the ones who were not. The participants who slept and who were told they would be tested did better on memory tests than anyone else.
The participants allowed to sleep were scanned with EEG. During slow wave sleep the participants who were told they would be tested showed greater brain activation than those who were not tipped off. The more slow wave activity the sleeping participants had, the better their memory was during the recall test 10 hours later. Dr. Born concluded that during sleep the brain’s prefrontal cortex “tags” memories deemed relevant while awake and the hippocampus consolidates these memories during sleep.
What makes some memories more relevant than others? Dr. Born says one principle of relevance is the usefulness of the information for the future. So what is the take home message? If you want to remember something find a reason that makes it important to your future. A great time to prime your mind with intention to remember something is just before going to bed. The most efficient way to make your life happier is to create positive habit like gratitude or kindness to others.
Instead of going to bed right after watching some garbage show on TV, take some time to remind yourself of things likely to improve your life. This could be your intention to be grateful or kind the next day. It could be an event or person that sparked your gratitude during the day or an altruistic action you performed during the day that benefited another person. Whatever you highlight as important is going to get remembered, so why not make use of your own brain’s memory system to remember positive things and allow the useless stuff (like who killed who on a TV show) to evaporate

Got Thin Blonde Hair? Then You Need To Read This

If you have thin blonde hair and have looking at various products to strengthen and maximize the thickness of your hair, you may have been going about it the wrong way.
The thickness of your hair depends on two factors, genetics and nutrition - with nutrition being the most important factor. The fact is that you can thicken hair, increase growth rate, and increase the strength - naturally.
Essential nutrients such as biotin are proven to do all three - thicken, increase hair growth rate, and increase the strength of hair. Biotin is a vitamin (also known as Vitamin H) it was discovered in the 1940s by scientists, which found that it performed a number of important functions in our body including stabilizing our blood sugar, increasing our ability to get rid of toxins in our body, breaking down the fat we eat - and of course triggering our hair and nails to grow.
If you have blonde hair that is on the thin side, you may benefit from added biotin to your diet. Biotin, when mixed with the right amount of trace minerals and herbal extracts for maximized absorption, will help you increase the thickness of your hair and increase the length of it too.
Many women who wish they could also focus a bit on the strength of their hair strands. If you would like to increase the strength and thickness of your hair but have not had much success so far, perhaps you should try a different method. Reduce your spending on fancy shampoos or gels to increase your hair volume. All those products do is make your hair weaker and provide extra points in your hair to start split ends.

How to Prevent Hair Damage From Straighteners

One way to straighten your hair is to use hair straightener. But choosing the wrong tool may damage your hair. There are two things you should know to prevent the damage. First you need to know the right tool, and second you need to know how to use it.
The best straightener is Chi straightener, because it is made with ceramic technology. It is the best because it has even distribution on heat. You don't want to use hair straighteners with metal plates since they have uneven temperature on the plates. It will damage your hair severely. When choosing your straighteners, choose the one which has good temperature control function so you choose from a wide selection of temperatures. Hair straighteners which have ceramic plates usually heat up and cool down very fast. This means you have more control on the tool.
If you have the budget, then choose the one that has advanced technologies like infra red radiation. This technology will help to protect your hair. It can also improve the condition of your hair.
But you should understand that although you have a great tool, you can still damage your hair if you didn't know how to use it. Do not use the tool when you do not need it. If you use it daily, it will surely damage your hair. You should give your hair a break at least once a week. Hair oils also can protect your hair but an excessive use may dry your hair out.

Smokey Eye Make Up and Eye Make Up Ideas

Are you longing to have a fabulous fun date with glamorous exciting eye shadow make up over an elegant dinner at a very sassy restaurant?
The answer is yeeessssss!!!
Cover your under eye shadow make up with a concealer by starting at the inner part down to the outer edge. When applying eye make up, please do not rub, just pat until the discoloration even out or disappears.
The secret to keeping your eye make up from fading within minutes from application is to follow some known eye make up tips such as applying a base without properly priming your eyelid so it will not form a greasy line and crease.
Start your make up for the eyes color works using a three-toned eye shadow. Apply with your brush or applicator from your lids to brow and create a smokey eye make up. Blend the colors like a rainbow. You will look gorgeous with this color set blending for smokey eye make up. Begin by selecting a light color that matches the color of your lid and spread it across up to your brow's bone when applying eye make up.
Follow your eye shadow make up with a medium tone across your lid and then darker attractive color in your crease part. Brush to blend the colors well.
Eyeliners do wonders with enhancing the shape of your eyes especially for a smokey eye makeup. You may use your best eyeliner pencil or dark eye shadows for a greater smoother blend.
How to apply eyeliner: Choose a slanted brush, wet the tip, and then dip in the dark eye shadow. You create a line as close to your upper lashes as possible starting from the inner to the outer core. Put on best eyeliner at the bottom of your eyes. Make sure it is only the line from the middle part of your eyes to outer part. Smudge the bottom line with your little finger so it will not look prominent.
Create a smokey eye make up effect by patting the dark eye shadow with the brush along your upper lid as well as below your lid. Smudge to blend. Use a highlighter to brighten your eyes. Gold or pink highlighter blends well with any eye shadow color. This is great for the inside part of the eye application only. Here's one of the best make up tips. Draw a V-shape line following top to bottom inner core of your eyes to make your eyes pop. Blend with your fingers.
Highlight your eyebrow using the same eye shadow make up highlighter color and dab it from your mid brow to your outward brow bone. Blend again using your finger. Curl your eyelashes and put on mascara. Now you are ready for a fun date. Enjoy!

THIS NEW YEAR CUT FRIED FISH CONSUMPTION AND INCREASE DAIRY FOR BETTER HEALTH

We are two days from the end of 2010. For the New Year why not vow to improve your health by eating less fried fish and more low fat dairy?
Studies have shown that the omega-3 fatty acids in fish, especially fatty fish, may reduce the risk of stroke. Research has shown that frying fish leads to the loss of the natural fatty acids. People living in our nation’s stroke belt (including the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana) are at higher risk of dying of stroke than people in the rest of the country. According to a study published by neurologist Fadi Nahab of Emory University in Atlanta in the Dec. 22, 2010, online issue of Neurology people living in the stroke belt eat more fried fish and less un-fried fish than people living outside it. Dr. Nahab concludes that this correlation is a strong indicator that frying fish negates the health value of eating fish and ups the stroke risk. So eat fish once to twice per week but grill it, broil it, bake it or poach it instead.
New research shows that consumption of milk, cheese, yogurt, and butter with some residual fat (not the fat free stuff) have a strongly protective effect against onset of Type II diabetes because they contain a fatty acid called trans-palmitoleic acid. The study led by epidemiologist Dariush Mozaffarian (who practices cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and teaches it at Harvard Medical School) was published in the December 21, 2010, issue of Annals of Internal Medicine.
The researchers examined 3,736 participants in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute-funded Cardiovascular Health Study, who have been followed for 20 years in an observational study to evaluate risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in older adults. They used stored blood samples to check for blood levels of glucose and trans-palmitoleic acid. They observed that individuals with higher circulating levels of trans-palmitoleic acid had a much lower risk of developing diabetes, with about a 60% lower risk among participants in the highest quintile (fifth) of trans-palmitoleic acid levels, compared to individuals in the lowest quintile.
In contrast to the types of industrially produced trans fats found in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, which have been linked to higher risk of heart disease, trans-palmitoleic acid is almost exclusively found in naturally-occurring dairy and meat trans fats, which in prior studies have not been linked to higher heart disease risk. Although the human body produces a substance called cis-palmitoleic acid which is preventive against diabetes, modern diets limit its protective function because they are loaded with carbs and calories. The researchers believe that the cis-palmitoleic acid in dairy products with fat is stepping in as a “pinch hitter” for this function of cis-palmitoleic acid.

Season Coffee and Cocoa with This Fat-Fighting Spice

Keep your heart strong and help your body get lean by jazzing up your morning beverage with a swirl of cinnamon.
Research suggests that in addition to steadying blood sugar, cinnamon may be particularly healthy for people who carry lots of extra weight. In a study, cinnamon seemed to blast fat and help minimize some of the negative health impacts that obesity has on the body.
Saved by Cinnamon
People who are obese (read body mass index of 30 or higher) tend to have higher levels of inflammation in their bodies, and their bodies tend to experience more oxidative stress than the bodies of slimmer folks. Inflammation and oxidative stress are two very unhappy physical states to be in because they can set the stage for heart disease and other health problems. So in addition to losing weight, finding ways to fight oxidative stress and inflammation is an important part of protecting your heart if you carry around too much weight.
(Know your heart's worst enemies? Get a seven-step action plan for a healthy heart.)
Enter Cinnamon
A recent study showed that certain cinnamon compounds may help obese people in the fight against fat, inflammation, and oxidative stress. In the study, obese people with prediabetes took a cinnamon extract called cinnulin twice a day. At the end of the 12-week study, participants' bodies were experiencing less oxidative stress and their antioxidant defenses against inflammation were heightened. They even lost some fat mass while gaining a bit of lean muscle. Not too shabby for a few shots of cinnamon! Researchers think that cinnulin had such a favorable effect in the study because compounds in the extract may somehow help cells take in sugar and use insulin better -- two things that don't always work so perfectly in people who are obese and have prediabetes.
(Could you have prediabetes? Find out what you need to know about it.)

Tips to Choose the Best Soap

Choosing the most appropriate soap is important since this stuff will be used everyday. This item will enhance your skin appearance. This article will tell you about tips in choosing the best soap for your skin.
Beauty is the important for women. Women should not only beautiful but they should be healthy. Some experts say that women's health can be seen from her skin. If she ahs shiny, fresh and smooth skin, it indicates that she is healthy. Caring for skin health and beauty should be done in one advance since these two things cannot be separated from each other.
The simplest way to make beauty and healthy skin is bathing. Bathing will clean your skin from bacteria, germs and fungi. You should use soap to clean those things. There are two major kinds of soap. They are plain soap and antiseptic soap.
Plain or antiseptic soap is usually used as a cleaner and freshener body. You can use this soap after having outdoor activity. This soap will help you to remove dust and sweat. This soap is made of alkali which is good to remove dust and oils. This alkali will not be good for dry skin. It will make it drier and irritated. You need to add moisturizer in your soap. It will add the skin moisture which will make it soft.
People with skin illness and problem bath with plain soap is not enough. They need to use other soap which has more complex ingredients. Anti-bacterial soap is the best choice for them. This soap is also known as antiseptic soap. It can be used to reduce even eliminate bacteria that cause infections, acne and other skin disease.
Various ingredients are mixed but the most common antiseptic is triclosan. Triclosan is usually mixed in liquid soap while triclocarban is mixed in solid soap. Both ingredients have the same function that is removing bacteria and fungi. Sulfur is also mixed to make this soap. This ingredient is natural ingredients which is effective to kill fungi and bacteria.
Unfortunately, antiseptic soap will reduce your skin elasticity and make it drier if you use it too often. But now, you can find antiseptic shop which has been featured with various ingredients such as milk, vitamin E, moisturizer and honey to enhance the effect of the soap. These kinds of soap will be much safer than plain or antiseptic soap. It has the same antiseptic ingredients so you can get double advantages by using this combination soap.

Escape Your Hairy Situation

You've spent years shaving, waxing and plucking and you've had enough. The time for change has finally come, with laser hair removal. You may be attracted by the generous discounts offered by some spas and salons, but take a minute to decide which is right for you. See a dermatologist or plastic surgeon first, in order to anticipate negative skin reactions to light treatment.
Negative side effects appear with greater probability in darker or tanned skin. Good advice can only come from a doctor who has handled skin similar to yours. Laser hair removal works on any body part, from the face, back, shoulders, arms, legs to the bikini area. During the hair's growth phase, lasers can destroy hair follicles under the skin, thus preventing hair from ever growing there again.
On any day, different hair strands are found in different phases of the growth cycle, thereby requiring four to 10 treatments, over four to six week intervals, considering hair type and target area. Those needing the fewest treatments are usually fair with dark, coarse hair. Success is defined as destruction of 90% of follicles in the target area. To eliminate the last 10%, all that is needed are additional treatments once every few years.
Any hairs that do grow back are usually thinner and finer, which means they are less noticeable. While darker hair is more responsive to treatment, something can be done for facial fuzz. The American Academy of Dermatology found that putting together a prescription cream, whose action is to slow facial hair growth, with just a few laser sessions, is highly effective on fine facial hair.
You can't expect it to be absolutely painless, and it is often described as snapping a rubber band. It shouldn't be too bad however, as the doctor should either chill the area or apply a topical anesthetic. Adverse reactions occur more often from topical anesthetic applied beyond the target area, and this is why only a dermatologist or plastic surgeon should be trusted with laser therapy.
Treatments range from minuets to hours, as needed by the size of the area. The price for treatment a single region can be $200 per session or $1,200 for the package. There are a few dos and don'ts to observe both before and after laser hair removal.
One month prior to therapy, eliminate tanning, including the use of self-tanners, should be eliminated from your schedule. Furthermore, tweezing, waxing, and electrolysis are disallowed. Lasers must be able to target a hair in the follicle. One day before, shaving is authorized, as it does not remove all the hair from the follicle. Sun exposure is particularly harmful after the procedure, and you should avoid it. Any venture outdoors requires putting on SPF30 sunscreen beforehand.

Why Are Organic Beauty Products in Demand?

There are a number of reasons why we are turning more and more towards organic beauty products in our choice of cosmetics. The main reason is that organic beauty products are much more beneficial to your skin. Basically, what we put on our skin will be absorbed at some point into our bodies. There are far more instances today of asthma and eczema, as an increasing number of genetically modified products make their way onto the market.
Organic skin care products that are made with no synthetic additions are far healthier than those whose ingredients contain pesticides or artificial chemicals. Some skin care products also contain ingredients such as petroleum waxes and genetically modified items. These are not good over the long term when applied directly to the skin.
Additionally, organic beauty products tend to be made with superior ingredients. There are no fillers or fake colours contained in the items and therefore, they have the capacity to last longer. As far as the environment is concerned, we all have a role to play in protecting our climate, and going organic with our beauty regime is an ideal starting point.
In order to ensure that organic beauty products are legitimate, look for the COSMOS-Standard as a point in the right direction. This can be found on genuine organic products including organic hair products as well as organic skin care and organic make up. The Standard has been set up by an international non-profit association to be developed into an internationally recognised guide for natural and organic cosmetic products.
You can also look for the Soil Association certification symbol. This organisation is rigorous about what goes into organic beauty products, especially parabens, which are chemical preservatives.
There are numerous manufacturing companies that cater for the organic beauty market. We are now more aware of what to look for in a beauty product, with genuinely natural ingredients that come from organically farmed sources. With organic farming, no harmful chemicals are used on the grown products, which protects our immediate environment and our health.
If you look at it from an evolution viewpoint, we are far more careful today about what we put into our bodies in terms of food and drink. Now this has been adopted by the cosmetic industry and women are looking to natural and organic make up and cosmetics to protect the outside of their bodies. This is seen by the plethora of organic beauty products on the market, ranging from hair care to make up and face care products

Common Cold Remedies

The common cold is an infection of your nose and throat caused by viruses. We typically catch between two and four colds a year.
Symptoms of the common cold, which usually appear one to three days after being exposed to a cold virus, include:
  • Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Nasal congestion
  • Sore or itchy throat
  • Sneezing
  • Watery eyes
  • Mild headache
  • Mild fatigue or body aches
  • Fever less than 102 degrees

Cold Remedies

Here's a look at some of the more popular natural remedies for the prevention and treatment of the common cold.
  • Zinc Lozenges
Zinc is an essential mineral that's required by more than 300 enzymes in our bodies. It’s found naturally in foods such as meat, liver, seafood and eggs. The full recommended daily allowance (RDA) is 12 mg for women and 15 mg for men, an amount found in a typical multivitamin.
Zinc lozenges are often found in health stores, online and in some drug stores marketed as cold remedies. A number of studies have found that zinc helped to reduce the duration of cold symptoms, especially if people started taking it within 24 hours after the appearance of cold symptoms. Zinc also reduced the severity of symptoms and decreased the duration of symptoms by three to four days. The problem is that many of these zinc studies have had flaws, so better-quality studies are needed.
Zinc lozenges may work by blocking the replication of the cold virus (preventing it from spreading) or by impairing the ability of the cold virus to enter cells in nose and throat.
The zinc lozenges used in the studies contained a minimum of 13.3 mg of elemental zinc. The lozenges were taken every two hours during the day, starting immediately after the onset of cold symptoms. The studies that found zinc to be ineffective may have used a dose of zinc that was too low or have had taste-enhancing compounds known to decrease the effectiveness of zinc, such as citric acid (found in citrus fruit), tartaric acid, sorbitol or mannitol.
Zinc lozenges usually contain either zinc gluconate or zinc acetate, providing 3.3 mg of elemental zinc in each lozenge. It's typically recommended that people take one lozenge every two to four hours during the day for a maximum of six to 12 lozenges a day.
Side effects of zinc may include nausea and an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Zinc lozenges are not recommended for the prevention of colds or for long-term use, because zinc supplements in excess of 15 mg per day may interfere with the absorption of the mineral copper and result in a copper deficiency

10 Steps To Getting Your Perfect New Hairstyle

Are you bored with your current hairstyle? If you're considering a new one, then these 10 steps will help you.
    1. Decide that you're ready for a change - Your first step is to make sure that you definitely want a dramatic change. If you think your same style only shorter is all the change that's required, then a complete makeover probably isn't for you.
    2. Find or identify a new style - This may involve trawling through magazines or on the web, or maybe you've seen someone else with the same style. Either way, get a clear picture in your mind (or on paper) of exactly what you want.
    3. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of your current hairdressers - Do you trust your current stylist to complete your transformation? Sometimes a change in stylist can make a big impact.
    4. Identify a list of local hair salons - Use a local business directory to identify all the hair salons that are based in your area.
    5. Read reviews and compare prices of local salons - The directories should also provide you with important information on the hairdressers, including contact information and website details. Use this to find out the prices and create a shortlist of those in your budget. Then read reviews on the directories to see what people think of the salons.
    6. Ask friends and family for additional recommendations and reviews - Some of the best resources you have are your family and friends, so ask them where they go for their haircuts (especially those with a nice style) and see what they think of the ones on your shortlist.
    7. Arrange for a consultation appointment - If you have one or two hairdressers in mind, then it's time to go along for consultations. Ring them up and make a consultation only to get a feel for the place and the stylist.
    8. Make sure you articulate what you want as clearly as possible - It's imperative at this stage that you are able to clearly explain what you want. The better stylists should be able to understand and interpret your specifications for your hair. They will tell you if it's not possible or may have useful suggestions.
    9. Make a booking and be prepared to go over point 8 again on the day of the cut - By now you should know who you want to create your new style, so make an appointment. When you're there, you may need to remind your stylist of what you discussed during the consultation. Photos are always helpful.
    10. Make sure the stylist has given you the cut you want - At the end of the makeover, make sure you're happy with what you've had done. If not, ask them to change it. It may not be the British way to complain, but it's important that you get what you have asked and paid for

Dry Hair - 5 Tips To Help You Bring It Back To Life

Warm weather makes our hair dry. The air can strip away the moisture that is natural to our hair. What is the best thing to do? Simply applying a hair treatment that fits for you and is available in your place can be an easy step to recover the lost moisture on your hair.
In some places they treat dry hair with different methods. Olive oil is Mediterranean countries' favorite while for Native Americans, they opt to apply jojoba. Trying any oil that you think can moisten your dry hair is an interesting way to see what works well. However, there are also other factors that you needed to consider.
    1. You need to brush dry hair
Brush your hair when it is already dried with towel to remove water drips Prevent it from being brushed when it is very wet as it will lead to hair breaking. The natural moisture will eventually come out as you are brushing it many times.
    2. Go hairline by hairline.
Let the oil be spread line by line, that is section by section. It is advisable that you start at the end tip with your fingers and apply oil drop by drop until it become a little moist. Continue to put oil into your hair until it is totally saturated. Look for more dry areas and possibly damaged areas as those places need more oil.
    3. Concentrated moisture is necessary
Blow drying your hair to make the oils pierce thoroughly into the hair shaft. It is perfect to use a dryer with an attached plunger. It must be set on a middle level. Take note that the hair will absorb much more moisture when it is heated. If there are still drops, spot the glut with a towel.
    4. Stay calm and just relax
But if the hair is still dry, then leave on the oils for 25 minutes or even until 45 minutes. Usually, brittle hair needs more time like 45 minutes to about 2 hours or so. To fully condition the hair, let oils stay on overnight. Covering your pillow with a fresh towel may be helpful.
    5. Restore the Moisture to Your Hair
As the hair is already moist, you just have to apply light conditioner is all you need. To eliminate oil excess, you need to leave hair sparkling by applying a small amount of cider-vinegar-based rinse. You can then rinse, dry, and wear your regular hairstyle as usual.
Restoring hair moisture of to brittle, dry hair is not a big deal. Just try the steps mentioned, be patient and you will be able to have shining, radiant hair.

    Shopping for Hair Shears

Whether you're a seasoned professional hairdresser or just starting out, high-quality hair shears are the tools you'll use to work your magic. Hairdressing scissors sets come in a variety of prices, styles and combinations, so shop around and discover the set that works best for you.
When shopping for a pair of long-lasting hair shears, pay attention to what they're made of. In addition to razor-sharp edges, good shears are made of steel that will cut clean and hold its edge for thousands of cuts. High-end blades are made of steel alloys mixed and layered for added strength. Some are even coated with titanium to maintain fast cutting action and longer durability.
Investing in the right hair shears can also help you avoid carpal tunnel syndrome and other work-related injuries common among professional hair stylists. Lightweight shears can help minimize hand fatigue, and some shears even have holes punched on the blade to make them lighter. Ergonomic handles and thumb openings allow for more comfort and easy hand positioning. If you are left-handed, consider buying shears specifically designed for lefties. There are even shears made specifically to help stylists cope with or prevent carpal tunnel problems. The handles are at 90 degrees from the blade for more hand comfort and a relaxed body position.
Of course, price is always a factor in purchasing decisions, and professional-quality hair shears come in a wide range of price points. Budget-friendly yet high in quality, student shears are a good selection for cosmetology students or other professionals just starting out in the field. You can purchase two-shear sets for less than $250. Superior student scissors are a fundamental investment that can take the cosmetology student from classroom. Established stylists can spend over $1000 on a single pair of high-end shears that come with 30-day money back guarantees and lifetime warranties
