Studies have shown that the omega-3 fatty acids in fish, especially fatty fish, may reduce the risk of stroke. Research has shown that frying fish leads to the loss of the natural fatty acids. People living in our nation’s stroke belt (including the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana) are at higher risk of dying of stroke than people in the rest of the country. According to a study published by neurologist Fadi Nahab of Emory University in Atlanta in the Dec. 22, 2010, online issue of Neurology people living in the stroke belt eat more fried fish and less un-fried fish than people living outside it. Dr. Nahab concludes that this correlation is a strong indicator that frying fish negates the health value of eating fish and ups the stroke risk. So eat fish once to twice per week but grill it, broil it, bake it or poach it instead.   
New research shows that consumption of milk, cheese, yogurt, and butter with some residual fat (not the fat free stuff) have a strongly protective effect against onset of Type II diabetes because they contain a fatty acid called trans-palmitoleic acid. The study led by epidemiologist Dariush Mozaffarian (who practices cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and teaches it at Harvard Medical School) was published in the December 21, 2010, issue of Annals of Internal Medicine.
The researchers examined 3,736 participants in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute-funded Cardiovascular Health Study, who have been followed for 20 years in an observational study to evaluate risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in older adults. They used stored blood samples to check for blood levels of glucose and trans-palmitoleic acid. They observed that individuals with higher circulating levels of trans-palmitoleic acid had a much lower risk of developing diabetes, with about a 60% lower risk among participants in the highest quintile (fifth) of trans-palmitoleic acid levels, compared to individuals in the lowest quintile.
In contrast to the types of industrially produced trans fats found in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, which have been linked to higher risk of heart disease, trans-palmitoleic acid is almost exclusively found in naturally-occurring dairy and meat trans fats, which in prior studies have not been linked to higher heart disease risk. Although the human body produces a substance called cis-palmitoleic acid which is preventive against diabetes, modern diets limit its protective function because they are loaded with carbs and calories. The researchers believe that the cis-palmitoleic acid in dairy products with fat is stepping in as a “pinch hitter” for this function of cis-palmitoleic acid.

The studies that found zinc to be ineffective may have used a dose of zinc that was too low or have had taste-enhancing compounds known to decrease the effectiveness of zinc, such as citric acid (found in citrus fruit), tartaric acid, sorbitol or mannitol.
    Zinc lozenges usually contain either zinc gluconate or zinc acetate, providing 3.3 mg of elemental zinc in each lozenge. It's typically recommended that people take one lozenge every two to four hours during the day for a maximum of six to 12 lozenges a day.
    Side effects of zinc may include nausea and an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Zinc lozenges are not recommended for the prevention of colds or for long-term use, because zinc supplements in excess of 15 mg per day may interfere with the absorption of the mineral copper and result in a copper deficiency

    Chronic sleep deprivation slows your metabolism so you feel less energetic and you store fat instead of burning it. It limits secretion of human growth hormone which keeps muscles toned.     A new study by sleep specialists and endocrinologists at the University of Chicago published in the October 5, 2010 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine adds to our understanding of how chronic sleep deprivation causes fat gain and muscle atrophy. These researchers followed 10 overweight adults (with a mean age of 41) years on a calorie restricted for two weeks at a hospital. Half the group was permitted to sleep 8 hours per night and the other half just 5.5 hours per night. The sleep deprived group lost 55% less fat and lost 60% more lean muscle mass than the group that slept well.
    The endocrinologists ascertained that the sleep deprived group experienced an increase in the levels of the hormone ghrelin (which is supposed to make people hungry when they haven’t eaten for a while) and a decrease in the hormone leptin (which puts the brakes on appetite after people have eaten sufficient food). Too much ghrelin makes and too little leptin leads to strong appetite even when your calorie needs have been met. Sleep deprived people crave foods packed with refined sugar and bad fats -  partly to rev up their slowed metabolism and increase energy and partly because their metabolic hormones are out of whack.
    Too much consumption of refined sugar, partially hydrogenated fat and transfat leads to clogged arteries, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. We now know that staying healthy and avoiding these terrible conditions is not just a matter of what you eat and how frequently you exercise but how much you sleep each night on a consistent basis.     "بينج" يواصل تقدمه

    ومن جانب أخر، انخفضت مؤخراً أسهم "ياهو" في سوق بحث الإنترنت الأمريكية جراء خسارة صفقات إدماج أداة بحث محركها الشهير على أجهزة كمبيوتر جديدة تنتجها كبار الشركات المصنعة. ونقلت صحيفة "وول ستريت جورنال" في ديسمبر الماضي عن بارتز، إن شركته ليس لديها رغبة في الالتزام بصفقات مكلفة لتدعيم نسبتها في سوق البحث.

    1.Prep your eyes with concealer Concealer can be used to cover up undereye circles or just the bluish discoloration just under your inner eye. To cover dark undereye circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until it disappears.

    2.Apply eye base to your lid Eye base is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. Without properly priming your lid first, your eyeshadow will likely end up a greasy line in your crease.

    3.Apply shadow. It's great to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow. Allowing them to blend into each other like a rainbow is gorgeous, according to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. Start with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to your browbone. Follow with a medium color across your lid only. Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors well.

    5.Brighten your eyes with a highlighter This step involves only the inside part of the eye. With a gold or pink highlighter (white is too bright), draw a v-shaped shape that follows the inner corner of your eye from top to bottom. Blend with your fingers. This will help make eyes 'pop.'

    6.Highlight your brow Take the same highlighter and dab it on your browbone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger.

    7.Curl lashes An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous. For added effect, you can heat the curler under a blowdryer for a couple seconds. Test curler before applying to lashes because you could burn yourself.

    8.Apply mascara Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Follow with another few sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well.
